HAM/CB mounting locations was created by thinkdeep
I'm aiming to get HAM/CB units in my truck before SCARR. I am throwing around the idea of gutting my upper glove box to put both units/mics in. This would keep them hidden and out of the way, but still access able. I could open it take the ham radio head/mic and put them on my dash when um using them.

Has anyone else put radios in there or have you found a better place?

I mounted my 2m on the center tunnel directly below my right leg. Not the most inconspicuous -lace, but it's easy to run wire to. CB is the all in one from cobra and is mounted under the drivers seat.

Everyone should post up with frequencies or repeaters they plan to use at scarr, so we're all on the same page.

These radios generally give off quite a bit of heat. I did a remote head mount, with a seat bolt mount on a flex head. The radio is mounted in the drivers side rear cubby, on it's side. Industrial velcro holds it in place. I prop the compartment open so it does not get too hot, it will if it is an enclosed compartment anywhere.

Let me know if I can help, I'm in Austin.

According to a repeater directory I found it shows a repeater in Gilmer.
147.36+ PL 136.5.
2M Call always works too. 146.52

I mounted a mx275 base unit under the driver's seat and ran the hand unit up to the dash. Mounted a holder right under the start button. This location has worked well for me so far. I will post a picture once I sign in on my computer next.
