There is a new forum on the website aptly named Solihull Sisters. Inspired by the Barbara Toy Tribute Trail Run, this new forum is geared for the female members of the club, those who have attended SCARR and to all other like-minded female Land Rover enthusiasts.

The idea for this was born around a Camp Mabey campfire in March, when a group of members were discussing ideas for the design of the 2017 Barbara Toy run decal. The success of the 2016 event had started the organizers thinking that women members of the Club needed a way to stay in touch after the event to exchange ideas, swap stories, and become an active member of the Club in their own right.

We know that sometimes the great outdoors, the vehicles, off-roading, etc can be daunting to a lot of women, so we want to change that by gathering-up our community of lady members, experienced and inexperienced, so that we can all learn from one another. Whether that means turning a wrench, practicing your off-road driving skills, or figuring out which wine pairs best with hot dogs this will be that forum.

Naming suggestions were posted on the club website and the final two Landy Ladies and Solihull Sisters were voted on by the ladies with Landy Ladies being the winner. However soon after it was brought to our attention that the Landy Ladies already existed in the UK with their own official Facebook Page and website. Not wishing to infringe on the UK group, the decision was made to go with Solihull Sisters.

Many people will recognize the Solihull name as an important link to Land Rover history. Solihull, England is where the Land Rover Company began manufacturing vehicles at this location in 1946 and this tradition continues to this day. Sisters representing the friendship bond between women.

The Land Rover Series in the center of the design represents Barbara Toy’s Pollyanna. Barbara Toy, a British playwright, travelled the world on solo trips with her compass and map in her truck named Pollyanna. She wrote seven books on her travels. Her life story is the inspiration of this new Texas Rovers forum through which we hope it will inspire ladies to challenge themselves to learn more and be more adventurous. The new slogan for Solihull Sisters is "Building Confidence Through Adventure.”

Decals will be available soon for female club members and past participants of the BT run and we also hope is to have shirts available with the design as well.

Look for a new forum page titled Solihull Sisters on the club site under Chapters. We ask all ladies to post here to let the organizers know what trips, events or educational classes they would like to see offered. Stay tuned for future trips and events sponsored by the Solihull Sisters.

A huge thank you to Jordyn Pitts who designed the official Solihull Sisters decal! She did a great job!
