The "10th Chili Cook-Off” sponsored by North Texas British will be held on November 27th, 2021 at Barnwell Mountain at the Pavilion at Camp Mabey. Our campsite has been reserved from Thursday-Sunday, November 28th. Who will be awarded the “North Texas British” cup and take the bragging rights for best chili?
The chili cook-off has become an annual favorite among the club members and it's a great opportunity for those who love to cook and showcase their cooking skills. Prizes will be awarded for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners.
Please post on the website only if you are planning to come out that weekend and if you will be participating. We need to know how many members are interested in participating either as an individual or as a team.
Here are the simple rules:
1) Your Chili must be made from scratch and prepared at Camp Mabey.
2) No can or store bought chili please.
3) Cooking is only open to paid members.
Plan to have 3 servings ready for the judges at 5:30 p.m. Chili will be judged on 5 criteria: Aroma, Texture, Appearance, Taste and Aftertaste/Bite. All chilis must be served to the judges in a club provided bowl promptly at 5:30 p.m. Please plan on making enough so everyone there can have a small taste as there is an unofficial attendees’ choice contest after the main judging.
Please note the campsite may be overgrown in places so please bring trimmers to help clean up.
